Let’s Review: 2017 Has Been a Whirlwind!

12 Aug 2017 Posted by Marcia Salkin in Bird Key, Lakewood Ranch, Lido Key, Location, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, West of the Trail

What a Busy Year It’s Been (And It’s Only August!)

The first part of the year has gone by in a flash. I’ve been thrilled to represent so many beautiful properties in Sarasota. I’m particularly proud of my largest sale to date – 467 Meadow Lark Drive on Bird Key. It was only on the market for 10 days before it sold for $6.35 million. Over a 20-year relationship with these sellers.

In addition, I’ve been involved with many other sales this year including properties on Longboat Key, Lido Beach, Lakewood Ranch, Palmer Ranch, Tidewater Preserve, West of the Trail and Siesta Key.

To give you a sense of what I’ve been working on now, here’s a sample of my recent listings:

  • 4266 Higel Avenue, listed for $4,500,000 a Gulf-front estate lot on Siesta Key
  • Beau Ciel # 601, listed for $1,675,000 in downtown Sarasota – Sale Pending
  • Tangerine Bay #434, listed for $1,175,000 on Longboat Key
  • 7372 Melaleuca Way, listed for $999,000 in Sanderling on Siesta Key
  • 3250 Old Oak Drive, listed for $899,000 West of the Trail, Sarasota
  • 3712 Eagle Hammock Drive, listed for $665,000 in the Hammocks – SalePending
  • 4972 Creekside Trail, listed for $329,000 in Palm Aire
  • 4631 56th Drive East, listed for $239,000 in Bradenton – Sale Pending

As an experienced real estate agent I know not only how to price your home correctly but get you that price!

Listings are certainly valuable pieces of information when evaluating a real estate agent, but another crucial factor is what people who have worked with an agent say about the experience. In that spirit, I invite you to read the thoughtful words of some of my past clients:

Marcia Salkin is an agent extraordinaire! She not only supervised every aspect of successfully selling my home on siesta key while I lived 2,600 miles away.

– Jocelyn W.

If you are thinking or buying or selling in Sarasota, you cannot be in better hands than with Marcia Salkin.

– Mickey and Brooke C.

What do you want in your realtor? Knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and responsiveness with a positive get-it-done attitude. You want Marcia Salkin.

– Judyth Jernudd

For over 30 years, I’ve worked as a real estate agent in the area, helping buyers and sellers realize their real estate dreams. It’s been a privilege to serve my clients all these years, and midway through 2017, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring.

Five Luxury Sarasota Homes Fit for a Powerball Winner

26 Jan 2016 Posted by Marcia Salkin in Lido Key, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Uncategorized

The 5 Most Expensive Homes in Town

Before you bought your Powerball ticket, you made a list of what you’d do with your winnings. (Don’t be shy, we all thought about it.) And what’s at the top of that list? A stunning luxury home in Sarasota.

So now that you’ve hit the jackpot, you have a big decision on your hands. Which fabulous home should you buy? To help with your selection, here are some of the best features of the Top 5 Most Expensive Homes on the market in Sarasota right now.

6633 Gulf of Mexico Drive
$19,900,000
The much talked about “Ohana” residence on Longboat Key is listed at $19.9 million, but really, that won’t even put a dent in your new-found fortune. You can boast to your friends that the home was designed by popular Sarasota architect Guy Peterson, known for his modern masterpieces. Sign on the dotted line, and you’ll get six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and 29,710 square feet, plus 2.57 acres on the Gulf of Mexico. Why travel to a Balinese luxury resort when you can have your own? You did win the lottery, after all.

7712 Sanderling Drive
$18,000,000
You won’t be bothered by paparazzi trying to snap a photo of the world’s most famous new millionaire if you buy this home, tucked away in Siesta Key’s exclusive Sanderling Club. This uber sexy home is listed for $18 million and is situated on a very private lot stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Heron Lagoon. With a roomy 23,362 square feet of living and outdoor spaces and a guest house, you’ll have plenty of space for family and entertaining. And what could possibly say, “I won the lottery,” more than an on-ground massage room and a private l abyrinth garden?

1160 N Casey Key Road
$14,500,000
As a mega-lottery winner, you really should be living in a home with a name. Consider “Eventide,” a waterfront estate on the north end of Casey Key owned by suspense writer Stephen King.  The 22,853-square-foot home has five bedrooms and six full bathrooms. For $14.5 million, you’ll be able to take sunset strolls along a white, sandy beach and keep your yacht on a Blackburn Bay lagoon. And at night, you can tuck in your Lamborghini, McLaren and Tesla for a sweet sleep in your nine-vehicle garage.

7858 Sanderling Road
$10,900,000
Another Sanderling Club masterpiece, this home gives the feel of a tranquil Asian retreat. The 9,383-square-foot residence listed at $10.9 million offers plenty of room with five bedrooms and four full bathrooms. You can wander the two-acre grounds and relax as you watch the blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. When family and friends come to stay, they’ll enjoy the two-story guesthouse and the lush Japanese garden, and don’t be surprised if they remark about how cultured you’ve become since winning the lotto.

916 Indian Beach Drive
$8,785,000
With this estate, the sky’s the limit. The nearly five-acre property offers 600 feet fronting Sarasota Bay and the opportunity to build a home that meets your exacting standards. Or, if you fancy being a more practical, bohemian millionaire, you can live in the 1935 house on the property indefinitely. But we all know you have sketches of your dream home tucked away in a shoebox under your bed, so feel free to use the existing home as staff quarters. During the construction hubbub, head down the street to the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and hop on a direct flight to New York, Chicago or Toronto. You might as well jet-set around the world until your mansion is complete.

Are you still having trouble choosing which estate is the best fit for your new lavish lifestyle? Well, here’s some food for thought: Why not buy them all?

Sarasota…a water lovers paradise

04 Feb 2015 Posted by Marcia Salkin in Bird Key, Downtown, Lido Key, Longboat Key, Sarasota Luxury Real Estate, Siesta Key, St. Armand's Circle, Waterfront Homes, West of the Trail

When most people think about the waterfront in the Sarasota area, they think of our gorgeous white sandy beaches on our Barrier Islands.  This recent Michael Saunders Blog shares waterfront lifestyles on the beach, on the Bayfront, on canals, rivers, bayous and creeks.  I am thrilled that it names one of my listings at 2300 Wason Road with 300’ on the scenic Phillippi Creek as a great example of waterfront living.

Sarasota School of Architecture…today!

21 Jan 2015 Posted by Marcia Salkin in Lido Key, Luxury Home, Sarasota Luxury Real Estate, Single Family Home

Wikipedia describes The Sarasota School of Architecture as follows:

The Sarasota School of Architecture, sometimes called Sarasota Modern, is a regional style of post-war architecture that emerged on Florida’s Central West Coast. Many of the architects who pioneered this style became world renowned later in their careers, and several significant buildings remain in Sarasota, Florida today.

Sarasota School of Architecture is characterized by its attention to climate and terrain. Large sunshades, innovative ventilation systems, oversized sliding glass doors, floating staircases, and walls of jalousie windows dominate many of these buildings, mostly built between 1941 and 1966.1310 Westway Drive

In Sarasota today, we are still lucky enough that our homeowners took the pride to  preserve many of these iconic homes and structures.  This week, one of the most famous examples has come to the market.  The original office of Phil Hiss at 1310 Westway Drive on Lido Shores for $1,590,000.  I was there yesterday and it really is an incredible space- made up the front studio in its glory and the attached residential space with  most  of the original  tile work, Ocala block walls, flooring and cabinetry remain intact,  courtyard atrium and of course, this floating staircase.1310 Westway Drive Stairway
