Southgate Mall: What’s New and What’s On the Way

It’s been so exciting to watch the renovation and construction at Westfield Siesta Key . The mall (which, if you’ve been here a while like me, you may still call Southgate Mall) is undergoing quite a transformation into a lifestyle and entertainment center.
If you haven’t been lately, you’ll definitely have to find a rainy day and enjoy everything the mall has to offer. Here’s the scoop on what’s new and what’s soon to open at Southgate Mall:

Since it started screenings, there’s been a buzz around town about CinéBistro . Have you been? What did you see? What did you eat? What did you drink? I keep hearing conversations just like that. The food is delicious, and what a treat it is to kick back and relax in the plush theater seats and enjoy a fun flick.

Southgate Mall’s prime location makes it a great spot for a gym. Now we’re lucky to have an LA Fitness at the mall with personal training and several fitness classes. You can work out and then meet friends for dinner, without having to drive anywhere!

Speaking of dinner, there are some enticing new options at the mall in that department. Metro Diner made its entry into Sarasota with its new location at Southgate Mall. The casual diner-style restaurant serves comfort-food favorites like chicken pot pie, meatloaf and grilled cheese.

Bravo Coastal Bar and Kitchen is the latest culinary addition to the mall scene. It just opened at the end of August and already it has built up a lot of interest. The new restaurant is part of the Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, which runs Brio Tuscan Grille. You may have been to one of the group’s restaurants at Sarasota’s other much-talked-about mall – University Town Center. At Southgate Mall, Bravo Coastal Bar and Kitchen is serving brunch, lunch, dinner, wine and cocktails. Give it a try and tell me how you like it!

There’s more in the works for the mall’s restaurant selection, too. Construction just started on Naples Flatbread and Wine Bar , which the company says will open soon. I’m looking forward to sampling from the restaurant’s extensive menu, which includes salads, soups, pastas and, of course, flatbread!

It won’t be long now –  Lucky’s Market  will open this fall at Southgate Mall. The sought-after grocery store focuses on organic products, local items, bulk food and more. It’s a real boon for the mall, and I say we’re lucky to have it.
