The Two Top Selling Homes in Sarasota….traditional or contemporary. Which do you prefer?

Sarasota ….known for its white sandy beaches, great year-round weather and as Florida’s cultural center.  Sarasota is, also, a ideal backdrop for great residential architecture.  We are still a city fortunate to be home to  original  1920’s Mediterranean gems,  neighborhoods filled with 50’s mid-century modern ranches  and even,  our very own Sarasota  School of Architecture treasures.

So far in 2014, two very distinct and  different architecture styles garnered the highest sales prices in the area.  Both on Siesta Key.  Both beachfront on 1.5+ acres.  Both with over 7,500 sq. ft. of living space.   And, both with manicured grounds and resort-like pool areas.

Sanderling Siesta Key

8250 Sanderling Road on  Siesta Key

8250 Sanderling Road, a stunning contemporary by Guy Peterson Office of Architecture, was originally listed in March 2011 for $14,500,000.  With clean lines, floor- to- ceiling walls of glass and three levels of beachfront terraces, this award-winning  home sold for  $8,850,000.

2300 Higel Avenue on Siesta Key

4300 Higel Avenue on Siesta Key

4300 Higel Avenue, a Beach Manor complete with center hall, symmetry and timeless finishes by  Clifford M.  Scholz Architects, listed in November 2011 and sold within 93% of list price at a record-breaking sales price of $10,250,000.

Two great properties, both listed and sold by Michael Saunders agents and designed by local architecture firms, are fine examples of Sarasota’s diverse styles earning the two top spots for the highest sales so far in Sarasota County 2014.
