West of Trail
Sarasota’s “West of the Trail” neighborhoods are one of Sarasota’s oldest and most sought after areas. Besides waterfront properties, the “West of Trail” area is the most expensive area in Sarasota. If offers quiet, tree-lined streets and strolling sidewalks, as well as easy access to downtown, beaches, shopping, restaurants, arts, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital. There are three distinct areas included in the “West of Trail” neighborhood:
Cherokee Park:
One of the oldest neighborhoods also has streets named for flowers such as Bougainvillea, Rose and Hibiscus, and are known as “the flower streets”. The homes reflect traditional and Spanish styles, with many renovated to preserve the special flavor of the neighborhood.
Harbor Acres:
A favorite amoung doctors and lawyers due to it’s close proximity to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and location along the Bay, Harbor Acres is a wonderful place to live. This enclave of upscape homes offers a variety of styles, ranging from “Old Florida” to contemporary.
McClellan Park:
Ideally situated between Orange and Osprey Avenues, McClellan Park encompasses the historical charm of old Sarasota. Narrow, winding streets are home to older homes, many being renovated by young families. Sarasota’s history is ever present is this quaint, quiet and enchanting neighborhood.
