Moving giant, Mayflower found Florida to be the 5th most sought-after place to move in the country with Sarasota-Bradenton coming in at No. 1.
Our once-little airport is one of the fastest-growing in the country as well, with 52 non-stop destinations running right now.

St. Regis Residences and Hotel
This project is nine years in the making, and its luxury, beachfront design really puts Sarasota on the map. It’s built on the beautiful, historical property of The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort, which was demolished in 2019.
Lakewood Ranch Waterside
It starts with twenty miles of shoreline and acres of nature preserves. It goes on to offer restaurants, concert venues, shopping centers, a weekly farmer’s market, water taxis, and more. This new development is meant to be fun, featuring 5000 homes and 12 different neighborhoods within its community.
The Bay Sarasota
The Bay is continuing to open in phases, with the Fountain Garden and the Mangrove Bayou Walkway finished. Yet to come are the Living Shoreline, Sunset Boardwalk, and Lawns for fitness, wellness, arts, cultural, recreational, and educational events.

Roads and Traffic
Traffic has always existed during “season”, but now it seems to be occurring year-round. And construction projects do not help. Even though our new roundabouts aren’t always our favorites, the studies are coming in to prove their worth. Crashes, fatalities, injuries, maintenance costs, and air and noise pollution have all decreased. Safe speed rates, vehicle flow, fuel efficiency, and evacuation routes have changed for the better as well.
A diverging diamond interchange is coming to our area soon, specifically to the intersection of I-75 and Clark Road. Extra lanes, noise walls, bike lanes, and sidewalks will improve both safety and comfort, though the fall 2023 finish date may make this project an inconvenience for quite some time.
Housing Market Hits “The Calm Before the Storm”
Housing prices dropped slightly compared to September’s sales from last year, but we know this pause isn’t going to last for long. Our area is sought-after, and the lack of available homes will keep prices in the higher-than-average range. Homes are selling in an average time of one week, and cash offers have been the most effective way of winning a home bid. We see these trends continuing for the foreseeable future, showing strategy is still required in the hot housing market of 2021.
